TAKEN: a UFO horror game set on a Montana farm
TAKEN is a free, first-person UFO horror game that plays instantly in your web browser with nothing to install. You tend an isolated farm in rural Montana by day and survive escalating alien encounters by night. It is a slow-burn dread, not a jump-scare ride: a working homestead, a full day and night cycle, lamplight and parchment tones, hand-tuned ambient sound, and procedurally generated mountains. Built in Three.js and WebGL by VOIDMODE GAMES.
How to play TAKEN
- Move with WASD, look with the mouse, sprint with Shift, jump with Space, crouch with C.
- Drive the farm truck with E, plant and harvest corn with F, and fish the pond with G.
- Hold right mouse button for the torch. Its battery drains, so recharge from glowing pickups.
- Raise binoculars with middle mouse button to scan the treeline and the sky.
- Press T to speed up time. Click the screen to lock the mouse and play. Press Escape to release it.
What happens at night
On the first night a silent watcher stands at a distance and always faces you, vanishing if you get close. From the second night on, a hunter walks steadily toward you, slow enough to flee but relentless. If it reaches you, a UFO descends on a beam, the world whites out, and you are taken. A craft also hovers over the homestead and bolts if you hold it in direct sight. Hide in the cornfield, manage your torch, and finish each day's objectives while staying out of the sky's reach.
